EMIL E. BOLTE

Emil E. Bolte, 89, Smithland, Iowa, died on February 2, 1987, in the Matney Morningside Manor in Sioux City, Iowa. Death came at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 29 days.

He was born December 4, 1897, near Manning, Iowa. His parents were Herman and Alvina (Ranninger) Bolte. He moved with his family to Woodbury County at the age of 12. On June 6, 1931, he married Annie Sands. The couple farmed in the Anthon, Oto and Bronson areas. He also was a school bus driver for many years. They retired and moved to Smithland in 1969 and entered the nursing home in December 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Annie; two sons, Leon “Gene” of Wakefield, Nebr.; and Herman of Brainerd, Minn.; a sister, Irene Layton of Mapleton; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 1987, at the Willman Funeral Chapel in Rodney, Iowa, with Allen Bolte officiating. Cindy Bolte was the organist and Joyce Bolte was the soloist.

Bearers were Scott Bolte, Lloyd Powell, Ron Bolte, Nolan Serviss, Harold Sands and Less Serviss.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa, with arrangements by the Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
