PEARL I. GUNDERSEN

Pearl I. Gundersen, 53, Roanoke, Texas, formerly of Little Sioux, Iowa, died January 15, 1987, in Baylor Grapevine Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas, after a short illness.

She was born August 18, 1933, at River Sioux, Iowa, to Glen and Ida (Little) Conyers. On May 21, 1949, she married Gale Gundersen at Onawa. The couple owned and operated the Sioux Café in Little Sioux. She had also been a cook at the Mondamin Restaurant. She had worked as a welder for Wilkinson Mfg. Co. in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, and had operated a sweepstakes print-out machine with D. L. Blair Company in Blair, Nebraska. In 1981, the couple moved to Roanoke where she was operating a housecleaning business.

She was a baptized member of Little Sioux Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gale; two sons, Richard and David, both of Roanoke; one daughter, Mrs. Terry (Kathy) Brechbill of Dix Hills, N. Y.; her grandmother, Blanche Little of Little Sioux; four sisters, Thersa Peasley, Kay Ferris, and Sally Hussing, all of Little Sioux, and JoAnn Larson of Waco, Texas; one brother, Tommy Peasley of Little Sioux and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joe Peasley; one daughter, Rhonda; and one brother, Darwin Conyers.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 1987, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. John Lizer officiating. Mrs. Vince Phillips, the organist, played the selection “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Bearers were Jim Carson, Wes Hall, Larry Harter, Mike Bohall, Royce Erixon and Russ Shreeves.

Interment was in the Soldier Valley Cemetery at Pisgah, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
