MAE M. POLLY

Mae M. Polly, 87, Whiting, iowa, died January 11, 1987, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting after a long illness.

She was born April 5, 1899, at Verdel, Nebraska, to Joseph and Ima (Dewey) Sherman. Eon Myers, her stepfather, helped raise her. On July 5, 1923, she married Russell Polly in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Paullina and Sioux City before moving to Whiting in 1926. He died May 14, 1969, at Onawa. She had made her home at Pleasant View Nursing Home since 1978.

She was a member of the Whiting Church of Christ and the Emery Johnson American Legion Post #481 Auxiliary of Whiting.

Survivors include a son, Dale, of Whiting; two daughters, Mrs. Dick (Faye) Ray of Kingsley and Mrs. Wilbur (Bonnie) Ray of Sloan; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, one sister and one brother.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 1987, in the Church of Christ in Whiting, with Evangelist Rusty Hedger officiating. Mrs. Arnold Brenden was the organist and played the selection “How Great Thou Art”.

Bearers were Kevin Ray, Ronald Ray, Thomas Ray, James Polly, Dennis Polly and Edward Polly.

Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery at Whiting with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
