WILLIAM “WILLIE” FRIEDRICH STRACKBEIN

William “Willie” Friedrich Strackbein, 81, of rural Battle Creek, Iowa, died Thursday (January 8, 1987*) in a Sioux City hospital.

Mr. Strackbein was born March 9, 1905, in Morgan Township, Woodbury County, in the Midway area, to George and Ida Wilhelmien (Burow) Strackbein. He farmed in the Midway area his entire life. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Midway.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, Alfred Sands; nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sands, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sands, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Parr, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sands, Mr. and Mrs. George Sands and Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Kapaun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 1987, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with Pastor Stanley Rosenau officiating. The organist was Mrs. Arlene Iverson with congregational singing, “What A Friend We have In Jesus” and “Rock Of Ages”.

Pallbearers were Gordon Morrice, Donald Huss, Terry Shever, Larry Albers, Edward Bottjen and Harold Petersen.

Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with arrangements by Walter Funeral Home, Mapleton, Iowa.
