A Noble Women Claimed by Death

The residents of Mapleton were somewhat surprised Monday evening of this week to learn that Mrs. Theo. F. Wooster had died that evening at 7:30, at her home at 704 Main Street.

She had been in poor health a greater part of the winter, but only a few of her friends outside the immediate family knew that death was so near at hand, Pneumonia and complications together with advanced age are the cause of death.

Emiletta Ruby Howe was born September I8, 1851, in Grafton County, New Hampshire, and died at Mapleton, Iowa April 22, 1918, being 66 years, 7 months and four days old at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage to then F. Wooster on May 2, 1872, and these good people have made Mapleton and vicinity their home ever since that date. For many years they resided on the old home farm in Maple Township, north of this place, but in October last year moved into town to the cottage on Main Street, which they had some time before purchased.

Mrs. Wooster had affiliated with the Methodist church early in life and attended as much of the services as the distance from town and the care of her family would allow. She was a faithful worker in the Grand Army and Woman's Corps causes when Mapleton supported good lodges of these orders. At the time of her death she held an honorary membership in the W R. C. at Sioux City. She was also a member of Maple Valley Rehekah Lodge, and a Past Noble Grand of the order.

Deceased was the mother of four children, two of whom with the husband survive. Two children, a son aged 10 and a daughter aged 4 years, died in January, 1882. The surviving children are Harry F Wooster who lives at Tiller, Oregon and Mrs. O. B. Smith living al Whiting.

Funeral services were conducted, from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 by Rev. J. M. Williams, pastor of Trinity Episcopal church, and the remains interred in Mt. Hope cemetery.
