25 April 1929Earl Sappingfield is Laid to Rest Saturday
Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon for Earl Sappingfield, 29 years old, who died last Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a lingering illness. His home was at Alcester. S. D.
Mr. Sappingfield was born on a farm north of Mapleton and lived here until he was 12 years old, when the family moved to Sioux City, he had been ill for several years, and had spent some time in Arizona, hoping the climate would benefit him. But he gradually grew worse and finally became a patient at St. Vincent's hospital, Sioux City.
Mr. Sappingfield is survived by a daughter, Margaret, three years old; his parents and brothers, Kenneth, Forrest and Louis. He became a member of the Baptist church a year ago last Christmas morning.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev, Edward Pruitt officiating. Burial was in Heisler cemetery.
