Mary Idella Pauley, daughter of Louis and Fannie Riley, was born June 23, 1907, at Rodney, Iowa, and died October 22, 1971, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 29 days. Death came at a Sioux City hospital after and illness of several weeks.

On February 23, 1924, she was married to Earl Pauley at Onawa and except for one year, she and her husband lived in Wisconsin, she spent the remainder of her life in the Mapleton community.
To this union seven daughters and three sons were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, two sons and one sister.

Survivors include her husband Earl of Mapleton; her daughters: Mrs. Myron (Delores) Anderson of Mapleton; Mrs. Robert (Elsie) Bridgeman, Mapleton; Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Hopkins, Mapleton; Mrs. Billie (Wilma) Hopkins, Danbury; Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Hopkins, Mapleton; and Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Allen of Blencoe, one son Earl Jr. of Mapleton, 24 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.

Also six sisters, Mrs. Lewis Leisinger, Mapleton; Mrs. Glenn Cook, Vancouver, Washington; Mrs. Donald Palmer, Vancouver, Washington; Mrs. Everett Parker, Santa Rosa, California; Mrs. Harvey Dawdy of Sioux City; and Mrs. Lloyd Edwards of Correctionville. Two brothers: Maurice Riley of Mapleton and Earl Riley of Rodney. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday October 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the Walter Chapel in Mapleton with the Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial was in the Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton.

Pallbearers were: Leslie Castle, Clarence O'Connor, Gilbert Gotto, Harold Theobald, Everett McCall and Fred Kuhlman.
