L. D. Pauley Is Taken By Death
Funeral Services Are Held Wednesday for Pioneer
Mapleton Resident

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon tor L. D. Pauley, 82-year old pioneer resident of Mapleton who passed away here Monday in his home.

Rites were held in the Methodist church with Rev. George A. Osborn officiating. Mrs. Paul A. Hollister and Mrs. C. F Griffin sang "Beautiful Isle," "Asleep In Jesus" and "Shall We Gather at the River" with Mrs. Dale Vanderbur as accompanist.

Interment was in Heisler cemetery with the Byers Funeral home in charge. William Kendall, A. C. Wiggs, Albert Reiltz, John Martin, Homer Kendall and Ira Hall served as pallbearers.

Mr. Pauley was born at Springfield, Ia., in Keokuk County, June 27, 1860. He came to Mapleton when a young man and lived and worked around here the rest of his life.

He was married to Miss Mary Ash in Mapleton in 1888 by the Methodist pastor, Rev Leach.

To this union were born five children, Evn, who died in 1926, Albert Pauley and Mrs. Hazel Pauley Leo, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Amy Pauley Key of Detroit, Mich., and one son who died in infancy.

Mr. Pauley had lived an active life and will be missed by his many friends.

Surviving besides his widow and children are one brother, Albert Pauley of Mapleton, his grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
