Funeral Services Held For Former Mapleton Resident

Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon, May 11, in the Methodist church at 2 00 o'clock for John Lorenzo Pauley of Avoca, Wis., former Mapleton resident, who died in a hospital at Dodgeville, Wis., after a serious illness of 10 weeks.

He had been in ill health for two years. He died at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 10 days. Rev George A. Osborn, pastor of the church, was in charge of the services.

Burial was in the Heisler cemetery at Mapleton under the direction of the Byers Funeral home.

Pallbearers were Lew Leisinger, Ben Liens, Art McCleerey, Albert Wiggs, Harvey Grass and Earl Porter, all of Mapleton.

Mr. Pauley was born March 1, 1887 at Ute, a son of James Albert and Sarah Pauley He attended grade school at Mapleton where the family resided for several years.

He was united in marriage on August 26, 1906 to Florence Johns. While in Mapleton he was employed as the city drayman and was on the Mapleton Fire team. They moved on a farm in 1917.

To this union seven children were horn. They remained in Mapleton until 1928 when the family moved to Avoca, Wis.

He was a member of the W.O.W. Lodge.

He is survived by the widow Mrs. Florence Pauley of Avoca, Wis., two daughters, Mrs. J. J. Hull of Onawa and Mrs. James Matters of Avoca, Minn., four sons, Earl of Mapleton, Lorence and Roy of Mazomanie, Wis., and Everett, of home in Avoen, four sisters, Mrs. Leo Shay and Mrs. Margaret Johns Sioux City, Mrs. Estella Bradfield and Mrs. Ernest Shay of Mapleton, twenty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
