James A. Pauley Pioneer Resident Dies in Sioux City

Injuries Sustained in Fall Prove Fatal for 88- Year- Old Mapleton Resident

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Perasso Brothers chapel in Sioux City for James Albeit Pauley, 88 year- old pioneer resident of Mapleton,who passed away in St. Vincent's hospital in Sioux City Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Pauley suffered a fractured skull and broken neck when he fell at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leo Shay, in Leeds 10 days ago.

Rev Mr. Whitney of Sioux City officiated .Interment was in the Heisler cemetery near Mapleton Tuesday afternoon. William Kendall. Albeit Wiggs, Lou Leisinger, Earl Porter, Walter Bray and E. G, Durston were pallbearers.

Mr. Pauley was born April 16. 1855, and died at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 12 days. He was married to Sarah Lizey on May 17, 1877. Mr. Pauley lived at Ute and Mapleton for many years. He made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Johns in Sioux City for some time.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Pauley of Spooner, Wis., and Lou Pauley of Lone Rock, Wis., and four daughters, Mrs. Estella Bradfield and Mrs.Winefred Shay of Mapleton, and Mrs. Faye Shay of Leeds and Mrs. Margaret Johns of Sioux City. His wife and daughter, Edith, preceded him in death.
