Florence Viola Pauley, daughter of Francis and Martha Johns, was born December 12, 1885, in Cooper Township near Mapleton and died Wednesday, November 27, 1963 at the Onawa hospital following a short illness. She was 77 years, 11 months and 15 days old.

Mrs. Pauley lived in the Mapleton area until 1928 at which time she and her husband moved to Wisconsin. In 1950 she moved back to Mapleton where she had made her home for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Pauley was a member of St. John's Methodist church at Mapleton.

She was married to John Pauley on August 26, 1906 in Mapleton. Three daughters and four sons were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death in 1949.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jesse Hull, Onawa, Mrs. James Malters, Juneau, Wisconsin, three sons, Earl of Mapleton, Laurence and Roy both of Madison, Wise; two brothers, Roy Johns of Mapleton and Ira Johns of Merrill, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Elva Jordan of Centralin, Mo., 25 grandchildren 63 great grandchildren and one great -great -grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one sister and two brothers.

Services were held Saturday, November 30, 1963 at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton with Rev Byron W Ayers officiating.

Pallbearers were: John Heisler, E. J LeFebvre, Roy Reichard, Ray McCleerey, Louis Godberson and Louis Leisinger Burial was in Heisler cemetery under the direction of the Walter funeral home.
