Bethene Mae Pauley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pauley was born at Castana, Iowa, and died February 9, 1960 at Del Paso Heights, Cal., at the age of 34 years, 8 months and 24 days following heart surgery. Miss Pauley was at the home of her sister in Del Paso at the time of her death.

She came to Mapleton at the age of eight and attended school in Castana and Mapleton.

Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pauley of Mapleton: six sisters, Mrs. Myron Anderson, Mrs. Robert Bridgeman, Mrs. Harold Hopkins and Mrs. Billy Hopkins, all of Mapleton: Mrs. Willard Bridgeman of Del Paso Heights, and Mrs., Joseph Allen of Blencoe, Iowa: and a brother Earl Pauley Jr. of Mapleton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Chapel with Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Pallbearers were: Fred Leisinger, Vernon Leisinger, Leonard Wacheldorf, Clarence O'Connor, Jay Anderson and Bernard Bridgman. Burial at Mapleton under the direction of the Walter Funeral Homes, at the Heisler cemetery.
