Hold Services For Chauncey Neely Jan. 24

Chauncey Neely, son of Hugh and Jennie (Clark) Neely, was born November 14, 1877, at Little Sioux, Iowa, and died Tuesday, January 22, 1974 at Sioux City, Iowa. He had reached the age of 96 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Mr. Neely moved to the Mapleton community as a child and later moved to Holstein, Iowa. He married Minnie Statenburg July 3, 1906 at Sac City, Iowa. He and his wife moved to Nebraska in 1915 and in 1927 moved to Sioux City. Mrs. Neely died in 1927.

Mr. Neely was a painter by trade. He had made his home in a nursing home in Sioux City since 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence and Donald L. Neely, both of Sioux City, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 24, 1974, at 1:30 p.m. at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton. Rev. John Hall officiated and burial was in Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton.

Pallbearers were Chris Mc Evers, Darrel Neely, Dale Neely, Elmer Bartels, Louis Sander and E.J. LeFebvre.
