JOSEPH PETER MUCKEY BURIED

Was for Many Years a Local Resident Before Removing
to Harrison, S. D., Where Death Occurred

The funeral of Joseph Peter Muckey was held Wednesday afternoon from St. John's Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 o'clock, the pastor Rev. M D. Bush officiating. Mr. Muckey's death occurred last Friday at his home at Harrison, S.D. after a prolonged illness diagnosed by the doctors us heart trouble and dropsy. His brother Clark Muckey went to Harrison last week and returned with the body over the Milwaukee Tuesday evening after which it was taken to the Clark Muckey home until the time of the funeral. Mr. Muckey was a resident of Monona County for a number of years previous to removing to Harrison in 1899. Since then he had permanently resided at Harrison. A large number of relatives and personal friends of the deceased and of the family attended the funeral.

Joseph Peter Muckey was born March 9, 1858 in Wisconsin and died May 3rd 1918 at the age of sixty years, one month and twenty four days. He moved with his parents to Monona County at the age of four years. He was united in marriage to Rosa Ann Miller December 10, 1876 and to this union thirteen children were born, six girls and seven boys, two girls and two boys having died in infancy. In 1899 Mr. Muckey moved with his family to Harrison, Douglas County, S.D. at which place he resided until the time of his death.

Mr. Muckey is survived by his loving wife and nine children, Joseph A. of Nowlin, S. D.; Willie S., Phill J, Gilbert G, Ralph B. all of Harrison, S. D., Mrs. Pearl M. Middlemas of Mason, S. D. ; Mrs. Blanch M Preuss of Kirk, Colo.; Mrs. Edith B. Peterson of Iona, S. D., Vera B. of Harrison, S. D. He is also survived by his three brothers, Marcus of Yankton, S.D., Henry and Clark of Mapleton and also eleven grandchildren.

He was laid to rest in the Heisler Cemetery beside his two children, his father, mother, one brother and two sisters. His children were all present at the funeral except Mrs. Pearl Middlemas, Mrs. Blanche Preuss and Willie S. Muckey.
