Funeral services for Mrs. Clark Muckey, 63-year-old lifelong resident of Mapleton who passed away at her home on the south edge of Mapleton Sunday afternoon, following an illness of over a year's duration, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church with Rev. Joseph Pickersell, pastor of the church, in charge.
Interment was in Heisler cemetery under the direction of the Byers Funeral home.
Sam Chapman, Ben Riley, Ben Smith, Walter Bray, Serena Christenson and R. Porter were pallbearers.
Elizabeth Peacock Muckey, daughter of John and Malvina Peacock, was born January 11, 1873, on the homestead south of Mapleton where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Clark Muckey, a prominent young farmer, May 31, 1801. They have made their home continuously on their farm just south of Mapleton.
She was a member of the Methodist church, Rebekah lodge, Woodman Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a faithful and ardent worker in all of these organizations until her poor health prohibited her taking part. She was of a kind and loving disposition and all who knew her were her friend. She tenderly cared for her aged mother, Mrs. Malvina Peacock, and his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Muckey, in her home for many years.
Mrs. Muckey underwent an operation about a year ago. She has been falling since that time, but was a most patient sufferer.
She is survived by her husband and five sons, Lawrence A., John P., James K., and Paul D. of Mapleton and J Clark of Soldier and five daughters, Mrs. Racy Zediker of Mapleton, Mrs. George Zediker of Castana, Mrs. Leslie Magnuson of Ida Grove, Miss Helen Muckey of Mapleton and Miss Pauline Muckey of Mitchell, S.D.
She also is survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one brother, Charles Peacock of Smithland, and 4 sisters, Mrs. Lottie Harris of Mapleton, Mrs. Dora Newman and Mrs. Amanda West of Ticonic and Mrs. Lillie Mitchell of Beech Grove, Ind.
One son, Walter Lorenzo, preceded her in death July 12, 1907.
