Arthur G. Moad, the only son of George D. Moad and Eliza J Baggs Moad, was born in Monona County, Iowa, Oct. 12, 1871 and died at his home at Salem S.D., at 8 o'clock June10,1955, at the age of 83 years.

He grew to manhood in Monona County near Mapleton, Iowa. He was a lifelong Methodist. In April 1893 he and his father went to South Dakota expecting to take homesteads but instead bought land near New Holland. The three sisters joined them in August that year. Since that time that farm had been the family home until they moved to Salem, S.D., Oct. 7, 1954.

He retired from farming in 1918, after having a stroke. He had been falling in strength until June 4, when another stroke came.

He is survived by three sisters, Altha A., Ethel R. and Ernestina E. Moad, all of Salem.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, a t Heisler cemetery at Mapleton. Duschl funeral home was in charge. Rev Eugene Hancock of the Methodist church conducted the services.
