Jessie Alfrety Lukhart, daughter of Marcus and Mary Muckey was born September 1, 1888 at Mapleton, Iowa. She died April 9, 1967 at Jefferson, South Dakota, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

She married Harry Lukhart on February 6, 1908 in Monona County. They lived at Yankton, South Dakota, for 35 years, later they moved to Elk Point, and South Sioux City. In 1927 they moved to Oregon and California. In 1957 they moved to Jefferson, South Dakota.

Mrs. Lukhart attended the Methodist church for many years. She enjoyed working in her garden.

She is survived by her husband, Harry of Jefferson, So. Dak., five daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (Irene) Murrary of San Francisco; Mrs. Vernon (Grace) Steinbach of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Mrs. Bert (Harriett) Clark, of Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Chester (Arlene) Kaiser and Mrs. Matilda Stubbs, both of Sioux City, Iowa. One son Harry, of San Jose, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Hazel Rempp, of Yankton, South Dakota, twelve grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter and 1 son, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services were held April 12 at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton with Rev. Leonard W. Rowse officiating. Pallbearers were: Charles Muckey, Donald Muckey, Phillip Rempp, Harold Rempp, Maurice Zediker, and Lee McCall. She was buried in Heisler Cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home.
