Harry Wilbur Lukhart, son of William and Marsha Lukhart, was born August 21, 1887 at Turin, Iowa and died Monday, July 24, 1972 at York. Nebraska. He had reached the age of 84 years, 9 months and 3 days.
As a small boy Harry moved with his parent to Mapleton. He lived there until his marriage to Jessie Muckey on February 6, 1908 in Monona County.
After their marriage, they lived in the Yankton, South Dakota area for several years. They then moved to Elk Point for three years. They later lived in Oregon and then moved to South Sioux City where they lived for 13 years. They also spent a short time in California; from 1957 to 1967 they lived in Jefferson, South Dakota.
Since the death of his wife in 1967, Mr. Lukhart had lived with his daughter, Mrs. William (Matilda) Stebner, of Sioux City and had also been living temporally at York, Nebraska. Harry was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two children and three brothers.
Survivors' include five daughters: Mrs. William (Matilda) Stebner of Sioux City, Mrs.. Lawrence (Irene) Murray of North Hollywood, California, Mrs. Vernon (Grace) Steinbeck of Yankton, South Dakota, Mrs. Bert (Harriet) Clark of Covina, California and Mrs. Chester (Aries) Kaiser of Sioux City; one son, Harry W. Lukhart, Jr. of Marion, Oregon, one sister, Mrs. Eva Barrels of Sioux City, 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, 1972 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial was in the Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton
