Funeral Services Are Held Here Wednesday Afternoon For Former Resident
Funeral services for Charles B. Lee, 72-year-old resident of Sioux City and a former Mapleton resident, who passed away Monday in St. Vincent's hospital in Sioux City after an illness of several weeks, were held here Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church. Rev. A. F. Schuldt, pastor of the church, officiated.
Interment was in Heisler cemetery under the direction of the Rutledge Funeral home of Sioux City.
Mr. Lee was born January 9, 1867, south of Mapleton. He was married to Miss Alfrettie Muckey July 29, 1878, in Mapleton. They celebrated their "Golden Wedding" anniversary last summer. Mr. and Mrs. Lee made their home here until 25 years ago when they moved t o Sioux City.
Mr. Lee was an employee of the Sioux City Service company and for the last several years had worked at the Greenville street car barns. Formerly he was a streetcar motorman. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife and nine children, Fred, Floyd, Theodore, Wayne and Charles of Sioux City, Mrs. Audry Pauley of Mapleton, Mrs. Marie Lowry of Stevens, S. D., Mrs. Margaret Sampson of Chicago and Mrs. Pearl Ingle of Sioux City. Three children, Vera, Ina and Leslie, preceded their father in death.
He also is survived by 30 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one brother, William Lee, of Sioux City, and two sisters, Mrs. Mate Hollister of Deloit, Ia., and Mrs. Rose Kenney of Castana.
