Mrs. Thomas A Iddings residing a short distance west of this place, was laid to rest last Sunday, she having died very suddenly Friday afternoon. May 24th .The suddenness of her death was a shock to the whole community, being altogether unexpected, and the physician was called too late to be of service.

At the funeral service on Sunday the attendance was very large, exceeding any the writer ever attended in Iowa, and over one hundred carnages followed the remains to the cemetery.

The funeral sermon was preached by H. W. L. Mahood of t his place, and the discourse was founded upon Numbers 20, and 24th and 26th verses.

Mrs. Iddings was greatly beloved by all who knew her. A new home had just been completed. She had been her husband's faithful partner during the days of hard work and had been very helpful in putting into tangible form his plans for a comfortable home, and when all is about complete she is called away. How mysterious are some providence. We now see through a glass darkly, but the time is coming when we will see Gods wisdom in it all

Mrs. Iddings leaves behind her three children and a devoted husband. The deepest sympathy of all who knew them is theirs. She was a young woman only about the prime of life, and to all the old settlers was well known, One of them was heard to remark, “she was a good girl, and you know good girls make good women," and we thought how true.
