Ralph Kenneth Hopkins, 40, of Mapleton, died Monday, December 13, 1982 at his home unexpectedly.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton. Pastor Mark Smeltzer officiated. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery in Mapleton.

Mr. Hopkins was born on September 23, 1942 to Joseph and Nellie (Bridgeman) Hopkins in Davis County near Ash Grove, Iowa. He moved to Ottumwa and Albia before moving to Mapleton, where he lived the last I5 years. He had worked as a carpenter for the Dale Jacobson Construction Co. for several years. He married Ruth Pauley February 28, 1968 at Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and one stepson.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Dale, both of Ute; six brothers, James and Joe, both of Ottumwa, Bill of Mapleton, Harold, Raymond and Jimmy, all of Albia; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Wright of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mrs. Diane Miller, Mrs. Ron (Nancy) Faver and Mrs. Tom (Charlene) Murphy, all of Albia; one half-sister, Mrs. Thelma Corningham of Ottumwa; three half-brothers, Clarence of Ute, Wayne of Des Moines and Oniel of Blakesburg; two step daughters, Bernita Zimmerman and Becky Schofield, both of Ute and one step-son, Richard Bridgeman of Ute.

Pallbearers were Mark Riley, George Castle, Marvin Wimmer, Kevin Riley, Fred Grell and Jack Allen.
