Mahala Viola Herrington daughter of Albin and Amy Hostetler was born August 27, 1894 at Hinton, Iowa and died Sunday, July 10, I960 at her home at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 13 days.

She came to the Danbury community as a young girl and had spent her entire life in the Danbury and Mapleton areas. She was married to Harvey Herrington October 28, 1912 at Ida Grove, Iowa. Three daughters and one son were born to this union. She and her husband have farmed and resided on a farm six and one-half miles southeast of Mapleton since 1945.

Mrs. Herrington was a member of St. John's Methodist Church at Mapleton for many years. She was also a very active member of the Sunshine club.

Survivors include her husband Harvey, three daughters, Mrs. Claude (Fern) Dean of Castana; Mrs. Felix (Doris) Wiseman of Renton, Wash.: and Mrs., Ernest (Frances ) Koeppen of Mapleton; one son, Loren of Onawa; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death, by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Methodist church with Rev. Byron W. Ayers officiating. Pallbearers were: Floyd Marsh, John Lintin, Herbert Koeppen, Carl Wasmund, Eddie Claus and Louis Koeppen.

Burial was in the Heisler cemetery in Mapleton under the direction of the Walter Funeral Service.
