The death of Thomas Gray, an early settler of this vicinity, occurred on Saturday evening, July 27, at his home in Danbury, after a lingering illness. He submitted to an operation last November, since which he has been constantly confined to his bed.

Mr. Gray was born in Indiana and came to this county about thirty years ago, making the trip overland He located near Mapleton, but afterward moved to near Danbury, where he has since owned a fine farm He was always considered one of the most popular men in his vicinity, being prominent in all matters that pertained to the betterment of the community His home life was an ideal one; always kind and generous, and gained the esteem of all who made his acquaintance.

Six children with his wife survive him.

The funeral was held Monday and interment made in Heisler cemetery
