August 05, 2012Louise Moore, 100, of Onawa died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. John Sears officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. The family will greet friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Root Funeral Home (formerly Pearson Chapel) in Onawa.
Louise Moore, daughter of Thomas Edward and Mattie Jane (Pound) Bowlen, was born Dec. 18, 1911, in Carrollton, Mo. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth.
On Dec. 18, 1926, Louise was united in marriage to Carl W. Moore in Missouri. To this union, two children were born, Betty Louise and Carl J. In 1940, the family moved to Iowa and made their home in Onawa. Louise worked as a waitress and also cared for children at her home. On Aug. 17, 1997, Carl J. Moore passed away and Louise continued to make her home in Onawa.
Louise was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa. She enjoyed walking, reading, playing cards, gardening and working in her yard. She volunteered at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa for 25 years.
Louise is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Moore of Onawa; a grandson, Carl E. Moore and wife Pam of Omaha, Neb.; a granddaughter, Karen Coryell Manore and husband Gordon of Omaha; five great grandchildren, Shani Coryell of Valley, Neb., Nichole Coryell of Omaha, Derrick Coryell of Omaha, Jennifer Partain of Chesapeake, Va., and Cameron Manore of Omaha; one great-great-grandson, Kaesen Coryell of Valley, Neb.; a nephew, Mike Touhey of Carlsbad, N.M.; a niece, Patty Presta and husband Ralph of Tampa, Fla.; other relatives and many friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl W. Moore; daughter, Betty Louise Moore; son, Carl J. Moore; one sister; and two brothers.
