Mrs. Courtney Taken By Death

Funeral Services Are Held Thursday for 92-Year-Old
Resident of Mapleton

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Emeline Courtney, 92 years old, who passed away here early Tuesday morning in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Zediker of the infirmities of old age, were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church.

Rev G. W Dunn, pastor of First Methodist church in Sioux City and a former Mapleton pastor, officiated.

Interment was in Heisler cemetery under the direction of the Byers Funeral home.

Six nephews, George Zediker and Alvin O'Connor of Castana, Racey Zediker, Grant Zediker and O. E. Zediker of Mapleton, and Hoy Zediker of Danbury served as pallbearers.

Mrs. C. F Griffin and Mrs. Paul A. Hollister sang, they were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W. G. Sanford.

Mary Emeline Zediker, daughter of George and Sarah Zediker, was born September 15, 1847, In Pennsylvania. She was married to S. E. Courtney In 1868 and they lived on farms in Jones and Jackson county, Iowa, before coming to Mapleton In 1886. They resided for many years on a farm east of town. They moved to Ida Grove in 1912.

Mr. Courtney preceded his wife in death October 24, 1927 Mrs. Courtney continued to make her home in Ida Grove until about a year ago when she came to Mapleton to live with Mr. and Mrs. Zediker, Mr. Zediker being a nephew

She is survived by one brother, T J Zediker of Grand Valley. Colo.
