Anna Christina Clausen, daughter of Detlef and Sophia Passick was born, July 31, 1887 at Arcadia, Iowa and died June 29, 1971 at the nursing home at Schaller after a long illness- She was 83 years, 10 months and 28 days old.

As a small girl she came with her parents to a farm near Mapleton. She was united in marriage to Cornelius Clausen on September 2, 1906 in Crawford County. Five children were born to this union. They farmed near Mapleton until 1944 when they retired and moved into Mapleton. Mr. Clausen died in 1958. They celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary in 1956.

Mrs. Clausen was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton. .She was baptized and confirmed at Soldier Township Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and taught Sunday school for over 35 years.

She made her home in Mapleton until about five years ago due to her health, she then made her home at the Schaller Rest Home in Schaller, Iowa.

Survivors include one son Waldemar (Walt) of Mapleton; Mrs. Everett Sager, Clarence two daughters, Mrs. Henry ( Vilma) Kluver of Mapleton and Mrs. Phyllis Gardner of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Gabriel Harder of Wolsey, S. D., and Theo Keuhl of Mapleton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, one son and two brothers.

Services were held at the United Church of Christ in Mapleton on Friday, July 2, 1971 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Homer F. Perry officiating.

Pallbearers were Clarence Mohr, Herluf Kaftan, Louis Kuehl, Elmer Champion, August Waderich and Clarence Slentz. Burial was in the Heisler Cemetery at Mapleton
