11 July 1963Estella May Bradfield, daughter of Albert and Sarah Pauley, was born January 12, 1880 in Marion County, Iowa. When a young girl she came with her parents to the rural Ute community. At the age of 14 she and her family came to Mapleton, where she made her home the remainder of her life. For the last several years she made her home with her daughter and 'husband, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reichard.
She was married to Eli Bradfield on October 3, 1905, at Ida Grove, Iowa. Three daughters and four sons were born to this union. She was a member of the Methodist church at Mapleton. She had been in ill health for some time and died Monday, July 1, 1963, at a nursing home at Turin, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 19 days.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Margie Schoenherr of Battle Creek, Iowa, Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Reichard of Mapleton and Mrs. Dale (Doris) Blankenhorn of Mapleton; two sons, Charles Bradfield of Dallas, Texas, and Murwon Bradfield of Mapleton; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Shay of Mapleton; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren.
She also leaves other distant relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, two brothers, two sisters, three great- great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 1963, at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Byron W. Ayers officiated.
Interment was in Heisler cemetery at Mapleton under direction of the Walter Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Otto, F L. Hedrick, Forrest Sperry, Harry Langholz, John Suiter and E. J. LeFebvre.
