William Alexander was born in Franklin County, Indiana, March 11. 1847, and died at Loveland. Co., March 3, 1913.

He was married in 1869 to Elizabeth, Scott to which union two children were born, one of whom died in infancy, and one remains to mourn his loss.

His wife died in 1872 and later he was marred to Margaret Jane Hadley. To this union three children were born, one preceding him in 1889. Those who remain to mourn the loss are his most devoted wife .J. E. Alexander, a son of Wessling Springs. S. D.; Mrs. O. E. Vredenburg, a daughter, of Clarinda. Ia. and Floyd Alexander, a Son also of Clarinda. He also has one brother George Alexander, who resides at Westport, Indiana.

He moved to Iowa in 1880. Locating near Danbury, where he live until 1901, when he moved to Taylor county, Iowa, near Clarinda, residing there where he remained until the time of his death.

His health having failed, and in the hope of recovering, he went to Colorado in June 1912, where his demise occurred. He was converted early in life, and united with, the Baptist church. In 1897 ho identified himself with the Free Methodist church at Danbury, and lived a devoted Christian life. He was a man of profound conviction, and unswerving fidelity, and during his last sickness manifested that remarkable patience that only characterizes a child of God. He came to his end as a shock of corn fully ripe. Repeatedly during his last illness he was heard to say "I am ready to go."

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Mapleton, Thursday afternoon, March 6, conducted by his former pastor Rev. P H Arlington, of Correctionville, Iowa assisted by his present pastor Miss Maude Wallace of Clarinda.

Relatives present at the funeral from a distance were; Jas. Patrick, of Boone, Iowa, Perry Proc tor, of Greenfield, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Baker Mote, of Onawa; and Mrs. Winifred Patrick, of Boone.
