Peter Alexander died at his home in this city, Friday night, August 25, 1899, from Bight’s disease, hasten by blood poisoning; aged 59 years, 6 mouths and 7 days.

Before retiring from his farm some three years ago and moving to Mapleton, the subject of this sketch was for many years a prominent farmer and stock-raiser of Cooper township, at which place he located in the fall of 1869, and where by hard work, economy and thrift he converted some three hundred acres of prairie into one of the finest farm s in this section.

Deceased was born in Butler County, Ohio, February 18, 1840. At the age of twenty - three he united with the Christian church and has ever since lived an honest and upright Christian life. He was united in marriage to Miss Rebecca Proctor, November 24, 1854. Of this marriage seven children were born, three of whom have died, and one son and three daughters, with the wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted husband and father. The children were Anna, born December 6, 1865 in Decatur county, Ind., who married Jno O Armstrong ; Mary Adeline, born September 17. I867, in Decatur County, Ind.... w h o married Calvin Graybill ; Ida Belle, born in t he same place, February 21, 18 69, who married Wilbur Earlewine; Enoch F. , born in Woodbury county, June 2, 1872 and died in 1885; Clara M., born September 30, 1878, died in1888, Cirtie, born April 7. 1885, died on the 18th the same month, and Albert L., born in Monona county February 21, 1887

The funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon a t 2 o'clock and was attended by a large concourse of country neighbors and sympathizing friends. Rev. Sparks off ciliated at the M.E. church and at the grave where the remains were led to their long rest in Heisler cemetery.
