Mrs. M. E. Payne Taken By Death
Mother of Harley Payne, Former Resident Here,
Dies After Extended Illness

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the community church at Castana for Mrs. Minerva Payne, 73-year-old resident of Sioux City She was the mother of Harley Payne of Salix, a former Mapleton resident. She passed away in Sioux City Monday following a 6 months Illness.

Rev. George Dunn, pastor of the First Methodist church in Sioux City officiated. The Byers Funeral Home of Mapleton was in charge of the burial at Grant cemetery. Claude Petty, Earl Miller, Charles Erlandson, Albin Carlson, Pete Knoff and Homer Morgan served as pall bearers.

Minerva Greenstreet was born February 28, 1870 at Ticonic, Ia. During most of her life she has resided at Castana and for the last four years has lived in Sioux City. She was a member of the Methodist church at Ticonic.

She was married to W E. Payne on February 22, 1897 at Onawa. He preceded her in death 26 years ago.

She is survived by two sons, Norris Payne of Sioux City and Harley, three daughters, Mrs. Leta Carter, Mrs. Agnes Livengood and Miss Gretchen Payne of Sioux City, two brothers, A. W Greenstreet of Superior, Wis., and Loyal Greenstreet of Ticonic, and five grandchildren.
