Wilbur "Bill" Ankrum, Sr., 83, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Rodney, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 9, 1986, at Matney Westside Manor in Sioux City, Iowa, after a short illness.

He was born on August 3, 1903, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Ilo Boak and Jessie (Wilson) Ankrum. During World War II, he served in the United States Army with the 59th Armed Infantry Regiment. On July 13, 1946, he married Rosemary Seeman at Chicago, Illinois.
He was a truck driver in the Oto and Rodney areas and had lived in Sioux City, Iowa, the last twenty years. He had been at Matney Westside Manor for the last 2 ½ months.

Survivors include his wife; nine sons, Arthur of Sherrill, New York, Wilbur, Jr., of Cushing, lowa, Ember of Sioux City, Iowa, Leroy of Chipley, Florida, Larry of Hawaii, Marvin of Marshalltown, Bill of Phoenix, Arizona, Clifford of Hubbard, Iowa, and Gaylord of Eldora, Iowa; nine daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Stella) Hayworth, Jessie Ankrum, Mrs. Norma Heinse, and Judy Ankrum, all of Anthon, lowa, Mrs. Doris Green of Corwith, Iowa, Mrs. Lois Parks of LaGrange, Iowa, Mrs. Marilyn Chiles of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Sharon Bobbins of Marshalltown, lowa, and Mrs. Pat Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brenneck of Lameda, Texas; fifty grandchildren; and twenty-three great- grandchildren.

He was preceded In death by his parents and two brother.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 1986, at the United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa, with Reverend Gary DeGeest officiating. The organist was Mrs. Ellen Harbeck.

Casket bearers were Tracy Ankrum, Shane Ankrum, Larry Ankrum, Leroy Ankrum, Ember Ankrum, and Wilbur Ankrum, Jr.

Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery in Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa.
