Joy L. Anderson, Mapleton, Iowa, died suddenly Tuesday, November 28, 1989, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Death came at the age of 68 years 7 months and 11 days.

He was born April 17, 1921, in Smithland, Iowa the son of Carl C. Anderson and Gladys Pearl Riley Anderson. He graduated from Castana High School in 1939 and came to Mapleton in 1946. On September 8, 1948 he married Frances Roberts in Onawa. He was employed at Ray VanBuskirk Construction from 1952 until 1962. He then was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad from 1962 to 1980.
He was an avid bow hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Frances: a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Janelle Anderson of Mapleton; his father, Carl C. Anderson of Mapleton and two grandchildren, Amber and Seth both of Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1, 1989 at Willman Funeral Chapel Rodney, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen R. Root officiating. The organist, Mrs. Ronald Harbeck, played, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden".

Casket bearers were David Bartels, Rick Archer, Pat McCaffrey, Fred Leisinger, David Anderson and Gary LeFebvre.

Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home. Rodney, Iowa.
