Services Held For Blanche Mercer.

Mrs. Blanche E. Mercer, daughter of John B. Leins and Mathilda Buckwald, was born January 26, 1883 at Marshalltown, Iowa, and died Sunday, November 25, 1973 at a Battle Creek, Iowa nursing home. She had reached the age of 90 years 9 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Mercer came to Mapleton with her parents when she was a young child. She married Robert Mercer at Sioux City October 7, 1930 and they lived near Battle Creek for several years before moving to Mapleton in 1937. Mr. Mercer died in 1957.

Mrs. Mercer had worked as a clerk in various stores in Mapleton and was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include Paul Painter and Rex Painter of Sioux City.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 29, 1973 at the Trinity Episcopal Church at Mapleton with Rev. Paul Traemer officiating and burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Mapleton.

Pallbearers were: Charles Lee, Dick LeFebvre, Lawrence Otto, Bill Hagerdon, Walt Babl and Charles Griffin.
