Bette Jane Ball, 89, of Onawa passed away on June 12, 2012, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Decatur, Neb., with the Rev. Philip Sloat and Evangelist Dale Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Bette Jane was born on June 9, 1923, in Tekamah, Neb., the daughter of Ralph and Bessie (Miller) Hanneman. She graduated from Tekamah High School in 1941.

Bette was united in marriage to Claude Ball on July 11, 1942, in Dakota City. They lived four miles west of Decatur, where they farmed until 1960. They then moved to New Berlin, Wis., where Bette worked as a supervisor at a dry cleaning business. In 1992, Bette and Claude moved to Onawa. Following Claude’s death in 2008, Bette moved to Maple Villa in Decatur, where she lived until her death.

Bette was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, and watched many games whenever she could. She also loved watching Tom and Jerry cartoons whenever she could catch them on television.

Bette is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Bob) Kellogg and Jody (Tom) Kellogg, both of Decatur; one son, Keith (Dawn) Ball of Waukesha, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Rodney, Brenda, Shannon, Heidi, Casey, Keith, Kyle, and Kim; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Savannah, Paydon, Megan, Austin, Dylan, Zachary, Hannah, Xander, and Josie; two great-great-grandsons, Kingston and Kade; one sister, JoAnne (Gerald) Wortman of Tekamah, Neb.; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 and one half years, Claude; five sisters, Martha, Edith, Ione, Dorothy, and Peggy; and four brothers, Herbert, Verle, Ralph, and Richard.
