Steven Lee "Bones" Jones 1950-2012

Steven Lee "Bones" Jones, 61, of Castana died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the V.A. Hospital in Omaha.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Eric Koenig officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army and American Legion David McNeill Post 129 of Onawa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Steve was born on Aug. 13, 1950, in Onawa, the son of Carl and Goldie (Hedges) Jones. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1968. He then joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the Vietnam War as a medic for six months and earned a Purple Heart medal. He returned to the Mapleton, Iowa, area, where he worked various jobs including road construction.

Steve and Jenell Kluver were united in marriage and were blessed with two children, Sarah and Larry.

Steve enjoyed many hobbies, including nature, music, in which he played the drums in a local band and the guitar at home, and adoring his grandchildren. He was an extremely giving person, and had such a big heart for serving others, even if he did not know them.

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah (Eric) Koenig of Le Roy, Kan.; a son, Larry (Misty) Jones of Onawa; two grandchildren, Jonathon and Kaitlyn Koenig of Le Roy; a brother, Dan (Judy) Jones of Onawa; a sister-in-law, Sharon Jones of Onawa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many good friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Jones; and a sister, Judy Beall.
