Carl A Uhl, age 82, of Onawa, Iowa, died on Friday, May 20, 1988, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

He was born on April 13, 1906, near Danbury, Iowa, to Louis and Clara (Sevening) Uhl. He attended the St. Mary's School at Mapleton. Iowa. On February 13, 1928, he married Ethel M. Newman at Danbury, Iowa, and again on January 8, 1948. He farmed in the Danbury area. He was employed with the Yankton Livestock Sales in Yankton, South Dakota, for twenty years and had operated the Western Saddlery Shop, also of Yankton, South Dakota. He had been employed by the Monona County Maintenance Department. He lived in Camdenton and Sedalia, Missouri, for nine years. He had been the school custodian at Yankton and Gayville, South Dakota. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa, in 1970, and had been a resident of Onawa, Iowa, since 1973.

He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a son, Duane J. Mann of Sioux City, Iowa: two sisters, Lorene Fishbeck of Utica, South Dakota, and Darlene Van Driel of Lesterville, South Dakota: two brothers, Norman of Seattle, Washington, and Robert of Yankton, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

A funeral mass was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 1988, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa, with mass celebrant Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Mrs. Darrell Hewitt, the organist, accompanied David Hausman in the selections, "The Lord's Prayer", "How Great Thou Art", and "On Eagles Wings".

Pallbearers were Duane Mann Sr., Duane Mann Jr., Donald Mann, Michael Mann, Bill Van Driel and Harold Steward. Interment was in the Grant Township Cemetery at Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.
