26 August 1982Merle F. Sexton, 63, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Rodney, Iowa, died August 13, 1982 at a Sioux City hospital.
He was born August 12, 1918 at Rodney, Iowa, to Roily and Marie Rasmussen Sexton. On December 15, 1961, he was united in marriage with Freda Silverthorn at Sioux City. He had worked for seven or eight years for Northern American Manufacturing and for fifteen years he worked construction for Booth and Olson, retiring in 1975. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Freda; two sons, Nick of Sioux City, Iowa and Douglas of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. John (Elaine) Rodgers, of Leeds, Alabama; 'one brother, Donald of Los Angeles, California; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rex and Everett.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 1982 at Grant Township Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa, with Rev. Dale Church officiating.
Bearers were Robert Taylor, George Parker, Mike McNamara, Randy Jacobs, Monty Jaackes and Leo Stickney.
