Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Methodist church at Onawa for J. A.
Prichard -78-year-old soldier-attorney- father of four sons who followed in his footsteps, who passed away at his home Tuesday following an illness of several months.

Burial was in the Grant cemetery near Ticonic.

A Spanish-American war veteran, Mr. Prichard was admitted to the bar more than 50 years ago. He practiced Law at Smithland for about 10 years and then spent the last 10 years In the law business at Onawa. He was a graduate of Cornell College and the University of Iowa. He served as city attorney in Onawa for many years.

Mr. Prichard was widely known throughout western Iowa as a criminal lawyer, having: taken part in numerous important cases. A small farm near Blue Lake near Onawa was one of his hobbles. He raised watermelons and gave them away to hundreds of boys, being greatly interested in boys as well as sports activities.

He was the father of four sons. All are attorneys and connected in some way with military organizations. Vernon, the oldest is a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, stationed in Honolulu, having graduated In law from the U.S. Military Academy. George and Bert were associated with their father in the practice of Law at Onawa und both are captains in the Army Reserve corps, while Leslie, an attorney In Dallas, Tex., is a captain In the Texas National guard.

In addition to his four sons, Mr. Prichard is survived by his widow, Mapleton attorney as well as other friends here, attended the services Thursday afternoon.

The following resolutions were adopted by the Monona County Dar association of which Mr. Prichard was a member for many years.

"THAT," WHEREAS the members of the bar of Monona county, Iowa, assembled in the court room of the Monona County District Court on January 26, 1937, have heard with deep regret and profound sorrow the announcement of the demise of its illustrious member for some forty years, -Mr. Jacob A. Prichard, late of Onawa, Iowa, at his home in Onawa on this date.

"THAT, WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa have in the demise of Mr. Prichard, lost a true American, a courageous, independent and able public servant, an eminent lawyer and a genial and kindly friend.

"AND, THAT, WHEREAS, the members of this Bar association and of this court have, in the demise of Mr. Prichard, lost an able advocate before the Bar, one free from partisan bias and prejudice, highly devoted to the interests of his clients and a wise and learned practitioner of the law.

"THEHEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this meeting be set apart as a memorial for and in tribute to the memory of the said Jacob A. Prichard.

"BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased, that the business of this court be now suspended to enable his associates to pay tribute to his –high character and distinguished public services.

"BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that this association go on record and that these proceedings be Incorporated in the minutes of this Court, as paying; the highest tribute to the memory of the said Jacob Prichard, deceased, and that our sympathies be extended to his widow and the members of his family "None knew him but to love him. None named him but to praise."

"BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the officers of this association communicate these resolutions to the family of the deceased and to the Press.
