3 March 1994Mabel J. Peterson, age 92 , of Battle Creek died Sunday, February 20, 1994, a t a Battle Creek nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian- Church in Battle Creek with the Rev. Ben Ray officiating. Burial was in Grant Township Cemetery, rural Rodney.
Mrs. Peterson, the former Mabel Carroll, was born April 18, 1901, in Monona County. She married Harry S. Peterson May 24, 1921, in Monona County. He died in May 1970 in Battle Creek. She h a d been a resident of Battle Creek for 20 years, moving from Mapleton.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell Peterson and his wife, Mary Jane of LeMars and Duane "Pete" Peterson and his wife, Mary of Sioux City; two daughters, Betty Jean Peterson of Cypress, California and Sharon Petersen and her husband, Ed of Battle Creek; a brother, George R. Carroll of Onawa; a daughter-in-law, Verdetta Peterson of Marcus; 15 grandchildren: and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Carlyle Peterson; four sisters; and five brothers.
Arrangements were made under the direction of the Nelson- Berger Funeral Service of Sioux City.
