Abner Persinger Services Thursday at Ticonic Church

Funeral services for Abner Persinger who died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 7, 1957 were held Thursday at the M E. church at Ticonic with Rev Henry Muller assisted by Rev. Worthy Usher of Luverne, la., officiating. Hymns were sung by Barrel Larsen, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Skaw at the piano. Pallbearers were- Glen Skaw, Waldo Lundeen, Donald Hathaway, Loren Blakely, Evans Woodward and John Schick. Burial was made In the Grant cemetery under the direction of the Willman funeral home.

Abner Lewis Persinger, son of Chester and Caroline Persinger, was born near Grant Center October 30, 1897 and died suddenly January 7, 1957 at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 8 days.

When 12 years of age, he moved with his parents to Onawa and was graduated from high school in 1916. He attended Morningside College and Town State College at Ames. He was united in marriage to Maude Smothers September 7, 1920. To this union were born two children, a son, Rex and a daughter, Ardis. He served in the army during World War One and was a member of the American Legion at Whiting, a member of the M E. church at Ticonic and the Masonic Lodge of Smithland and of the I. 0. 0. F Lodge. He was also Mayor of Rodney.

Survivors Include the widow; one son, Rex of Hornick: and the daughter, Mrs. Ardis LaBrune of Whiting: one brother, Harold Persinger of Onawa; a sister, Mrs. Harriet Hackett of Smithland: five grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

His father, mother and one sister preceded him in death.
