Services Held For Mrs. Myers

Mrs. Robert Myers, 80, of Rodney, died on Friday, Jan. 21, 1977 at the Correctionville nursing home. Mrs. Myers had been at Valley View Colonial Manor for one week, following major surgery at a Sioux City hospital.

Myers, the former Bessie Mae Myers was born August 19, 1896 in Lucky Valley. She attended school at Anthon. She was married to Robert Myers on February 22, 1917 at Sioux City. They resided at Anthon until 1941 when they moved to the Rodney area. Mr. Myers died on January 30, 1963. Mrs. Myers was a member of the United Church of Christ, Ember Rebekah Lodge, Congregate Meal Site Council, the Onawa Past Noble Grand Club and the Ticonic Methodist Women. She was president of the United Church of Christ's Women's Fellowship at the time of her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lincoln Myers and Alice Mitchell Myers and two sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Alice) Collins of Rodney; one brother, Raleigh of Rodney; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her name for the United Church of Christ at Rodney.
Elsie Rebekah Lodge No. 222 of Onawa held services at 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 23 at the Willman Funeral Home.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on January 24 at the United Church of Christ at Rodney. The Reverend Robert Peters of Lawton and the Reverend Dale Church officiated. Reverend Peters,
grandson of Mrs. Myers, gave the eulogy.

Pallbearers were William Fouts of Grant Center, James Manson of Smithland, Ralph Davis of rural Castana, Gail Blakely, Oscar Hanson and Frank Burkhart.

Burial was at the Grant Township Cemetery.
