Services held for Clifford Mordhorst

Clifford William Mordhorst, 89, of Smithland, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Clifford was born March 25, 1914, in Pierce County, Nebraska, the s on of George and Alvena (Rohn) Mordhorst. He graduated from Pierce High School, Pierce, Nebraska in 1932. On August 16, 1944, he married Ruth Schell in Omaha, Nebraska. He farmed in Nebraska until 1960 when he and his family moved to Hornick, Iowa. He retired in 1988 and moved to Smithland.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Smithland; four children, Alice Franzen of Coleridge, Nebraska, Richard Mordhorst of Denver, Colorado, Douglas Mordhorst of Sioux City, Iowa, and Larry Mordhorst of Hornick, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Bill, Annette, and Alan Franzen, Ryan and Kristy Mordhorst, Troy and his wife, Rhonda, Travis and Amy Mordhorst, and Barbara Brewer; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Delany, and Ramsey Mordhorst and Dillon Mordhorst.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother; a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, at t he Willman Funeral Chapel, Rodney, Iowa, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. The organist was Mrs. Ardith Armour, and the congregational hymns were "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Amazing Grace".

Honorary Bearers were Amy Mordhorst, Kristy Mordhorst, and Barbara Brewer.

Casket Bearers were Troy Mordhorst, Travis Mordhorst, Ryan Mordhorst, Annette Franzen, Bill Franzen and Alan Franzen.

Interment was in Grant Township Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
