Lavinia Parks Woodward Miller, 90, of Ticonic, Iowa, died at St. Luke's Medical Center in
Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 7, 1994.

She was born November 23, 1904, at Ticonic, the daughter of Rolla D. and Amy Jane (Parks) Woodward. She was born and raised at Ticonic and was a lifelong resident of Ticonic. She was the last member of' the ninth generation of the Woodward family.

She graduated from the Castana High School in 1921 and was the last remaining member of her class. She attended Cedar Falls Teacher's College. Following college she taught for ten years at the Ticonic and Grant Center rural schools. On September 15, 1932, she was married to Glenn Miller at Dakota City, Nebraska. Mr. Miller died March 16, 1968, at Ticonic.

Lavinia was a 67 year member of the United Methodist Church at Ticonic, a life member of the United Methodist Women, had been a Sunday school teacher and a n officer of the church board and the United Methodist Women. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Evergreen Chapter
Order of Eastern Star at Smithland, a charter member of the Monona County Historical Society, was active in the Monona County Extension Service and a member of the Senior Citizens at Rodney.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma and her husband, Rev. Louis Aitken of Ticonic and Jana and her husband, James McDonald, of Vermillion, South Dakota; three grandsons, Glendon McDonald of Vermillion and his special friend, Stephanie Nelsen, Marlon McDonald and wife. Sheryl of Tremont, Illinois, and Jason McDonald of Vermillion; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Erin and Zachary; several nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Blanche Woodward of Ticonic, Jean Woodward of Robbinsdale, Minnesota and Lena Miller of Countryside Nursing Home in Sioux City.

She w a s preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother, and brothers Russell, Vinton, Mark and Evans; and one sister, Almira Blakely.

Services' were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 1994 at the United Methodist Church at Ticonic, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Root officiating. The organist, Miss Wendy Johnston, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Ronald Maynard, in the selections “Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "How Great Thou Art".

Honorary Bearers were Glendon McDonald, Marlon McDonald and Jason McDonald.

Casket Bearers were Mark Persinger, Steven Longlee, Ronald Maynard, Loren Blakely, Louis Reed and Paul Ritchie. Interment was in Grant Township Cemetery a t Ticonic. Iowa,
with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
