Vernon R. LaBrune, 65, of Rodney, Iowa, died Saturday, October 23, 1993 at University East Hospital in Omaha following a long illness.

He was born July 4. 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of George William and Leora May (Gardipee) LaBrune. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Ardis Persinger. He had been a cable splicer with IPS for 14 years before moving to Crofton, Nebraska, where he was a self-employed home builder. The couple moved to Omaha in 1985 where he did contract work for apartment complexes.

Mr. LaBrune was a member of the United Methodist Church at Yankton. South Dakota, St. John's Lodge #1 at Yankton, and Emery Johnson Post #481 American Legion of Whiting.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Ron and Judy of Lexington, Nebraska, Rick and Pat of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Randy and Pat of DuPont, Washington: two daughters and their husbands, Theresa and Daniel Williamson of Alexandria, Virginia and Rosalin and Randy Blair of Arlington, Texas: eight grandchildren: a brother, Laurence and his wife. Marian of Hornick; and three sisters, Mrs. Aleck (Louise) Yarosevich of Sioux City, Mrs. Rex (Rose Marie) Persinger of Hornick and Mrs. Harvey (Maryland) Merritt of Whiting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and five sisters.

Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, October 26, 1993, at United Methodist Church, Ticonic, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Root officiating. The organist was Dorothy Skow and
The soloist Jack Steinhoff sang. "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".

Interment was in Grant Township Cemetery. Rodney. Iowa, with Flag Presentation by Harvey
Merritt, Emery Johnson American Legion Post #481 Whiting. Iowa. Arrangements were by Willman Funeral Home. Rodney, Iowa.
