Marlow “Mike” Krusen, 72, rural Hornick, died Monday, June 2, 1981 in a Sioux City hospital of a long illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton. The Rev. Eldor Wilkens of the Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Sioux City officiated. Burial was in Grant Cemetery near Rodney.

Mr. Krusen was born January 14 1909 to John and Myrtle (Bennett) Krusen at Chatsworth.

He married Sophia Hillman September 7,1930 at Hawarden. They owned and operated a service station near Hawarden for several years. They later farmed near Ireton, moving to a farm near Hornick 30 years ago.

He was a past school director in Washington Township, Sioux County and a past member of the Saddle Club of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and. two sisters.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Mary) Vellinga of Marshalltown and Mrs. Betty Newman of Moville; one son, Jack of Mapleton; 14 grandchildren; sis great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Haddican of Hawarden.

Pallbearers were Dan Vellinga, Lane Vellinga, Jeff Krusen, Scott Chandler, Kelly Chandler and Jody Chandler, all grandsons.
