John E. Inman, 66, died Thursday at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City after a long illness.

Mr. Inman, son of Ellsworth and Jessie Inman, was born August 9, 1917, near Smithland. He served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945, during World War II. He married Verna Harsh March 4, 1953. They farmed near Smithland. John accepted the Lord as his personal Savior February 12, 1969. He was a member of the Billy Sunday Tabernacle and a trustee at the Countryside Retirement Home.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters. Mrs. Samuel (Genise) Hallowell of Bronson, and Mrs. Dick (Jeanene) Hallowell of Hornick; one son, John, of Elkhorn, Nebraska: one brother, Willard of Orange, California; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 2, 1984 at the Billy Sunday Memorial Tabernacle in Sioux City with Father Wesley M. Hansen officiating. James Sewell was organist and Karl Luther sang "Eternal Father Strong To Save", "Beyond The Sunset", and "How Great Thou Art".

Pallbearers were Lorenz Busselman, Warren Barnes, Don Swanson, Raymond Van Cleave, James Hair, and Murlin Mosier. Burial was in Grant Township Cemetery near Rodney.
