Beatrice Hawk dies at Onawa

Beatrice Hawk of Rodney, Iowa, died Monday, September 17, 1979, in the Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa. She had reached the age of 87 years and 2 days.

She was born September 15, 1892, in Grant Township, Monona County, Iowa, to Fred and Alice Newton Barber. She was united in marriage to Chester B. Hawk and was a lifelong resident of the Rodney area. For many years she operated the post office and telephone exchange in Ticonic, Iowa, before retiring to her small farm near Rodney, Iowa. Her husband died in 1961.

She is survived by one sister, Etta B. Jones of Forest Grove, Oregon; and one brother, Paul L. Barber of Sioux City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents in 1942 and her husband in 1961.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 1979, at the Grant Township Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa, with Rev. Dale Church officiating.
