William Emmet Dean Ham, 55, of rural Mapleton, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 8, 1965, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1929, at Ticonic, Iowa, the son of William and Hariet Buoey Ham. He served in the regular Air Force and the Air National Guard 186th TAC for thirty-one years, retiring in 1964.

He married Phyllis Sooth on September 17, 1980, at Onawa, Iowa. They lived on farms in the Castana and Mapleton areas. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church at Mapleton, Iowa, and Grimsley-Thayer Post #602, American Legion of Castana, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; five sons, Derek of Spokane, Washington, Gerald of Japan, and Elliott, Clinton, and Cullon, all at home; one daughter, Gayla of Spokane, Washington; two brothers, Wilton Ham of Smithland, Iowa, and Wilfred Ham of Mondamin, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Elma Petty of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 1986, at St. John's United Methodist Church at Mapleton, Iowa, with Reverend Dick Krambeck officiating. Mrs. Elaine Krambeck was the organist.

Honorary pallbearers were from the 186th Tactical Air Force National Guard.

Flag Presentation was by Grimsley-Thayer Poet Number 602, American Legion of Castana, Iowa, Gordon Lane, Commander.

The body was cremated.
