Edward Beamer Dies At Smithland Sunday

Edward Owen Beamer, son of Francis Owen and McDelia Gelsinger Beamer, was born in Illinois May 23, 1878.

He attended the public schools and also Brown's Business college in Sioux City and Buena Vista college in Storm Lake, la.

On June 23, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Inman of Smithland, la. Moving to Oregon three years later, he made his home in Portland and in Clarke County, Washington.

He was an active member of the Baptist church at Brush Prairie, Wash. Ambitious and energetic he was active in community affairs. Because of failing sight he returned to Smithland in 1931, became totally blind although he still worked around the farm. While so engaged he fell from a wagon receiving injuries which caused his death November 21, 1935 at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 1day .

Besides his widow he leaves daughter, Mrs. Faith Cooke, of Portland, Ore., a son, Edward Gordon Beamer, of Smithland, and granddaughter , Eilnor Joan Cooke. Alsoa half brother, Bert Milliken who is in China.

The funeral was held at the Congregational church at Rodney at 2 o'clock Tuesday with J A.
Duschl of Mapleton and Kenneth Willman of Rodney in charge and Rev. Swisher of Whiting as minister. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery.

Mr. Beamer chose his hymns, " In the Garden", "He Leadeth Me" and "Oh That Will Be Glory for Me," to be sung by a male quartet composed of Ivan and Albert Blakely, Abner Persinger and George Juhl, with Miss Rosella Madsen at the piano . He also left other instructions for his funeral.
