ALBATON, Iowa | Jean Delories Hunter, 81, of Albaton died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Sloan, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.
Jean was born on March 19, 1931, in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Charley and Louise (Christianson) Collison.

Jean was united in marriage to George Hunter on March 4, 1954, at Albaton Wesleyan Church. Three children were born into this union, Terry Hunter of Sioux City, Valerie Wall and her husband, Allan of Bartlesville, Okla., and Tom Hunter and his wife, Jackie of Sloan, Iowa. She lived a lifetime in the Albaton area. Jean had a great love for their country home and all of their family times.

Jean was a hard worker having worked at Sloan Hatchery for several years following school. During her married life she worked alongside her husband doing farming until they retired in 1991. Jean loved her family, gardening, crafts, and being outdoors. She loved family gatherings and cooking lots of food for everyone. When you would visit, she would show you her flowers and vegetable garden. Her latest project was making quilts for all her grandchildren and several more.

Jean was a member of Albaton Wesleyan Church until its closing brought her to Evangelical Covenant Church in Sloan. She was very active in her church preparing meals and making things for missions with the ladies.

Jean is survived by her husband, George of Albaton; two sons, Terry Hunter of Sioux City, and Tom Hunter and his wife, Jackie of Sloan.; one daughter, Valerie Wall and her husband, Allan of Bartlesville; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Jay) Nelson, Molly Hunter, Matthew, Jeremy (Dacia) and Nathan Wall, Rachelle (Wes) Sturges, Ashlee (Barry) Worrell, Jessica Hunter, and Amy (Bryan) Kerns; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Mary) Collison of Albaton, and Charley (Rachel) Collison of Oxnard, Calif.; two sisters, Elaine Koeppen of South Sioux City, and Darlene (Bill) Krunweide of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Tootie Collison of Onawa, Iowa; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lyle Collison; a brother-in-law, Neil Koeppen; and a grandniece, Danielle Withee.
